Cooling Fans
Sometimes the purpose of fans is to bring some cooling sensation to the occupants of buildings. Air movement within a room brings the benefit of lower 'apparent', or 'perceived' temperature.
The general principle here is that the greater the air velocity the greater the drop in apparent temperature.
But there is another principle which is that the more uniform that air velocity throughout the room the more comfortable and unobtrusive it is.
The very best solution for lowering the apparent temperature by air movement is the HVLS fans. They move huge volumes of air but at a modest velocity and the feeling within a building with HVLS fans is sublime.
