Electrostatic air cleaners are intended for industrial and commercial applications and are for installation either as part of a ductwork or pipework system, or as stand alone units for treating fugitive oils mist or smoke. Their best applications are those requiring removal of oil mists and smoke. They are ideal in machine shops, cooking extract systems, and the smaller ones are typically used for oil mist recovery on machine enclosures or in marine engine breather systems. There are many more units than are listed on our site, including oil mist collectors and kitchen extract systems.
Electrostatic air cleaners work is a very specific way. Air enters the machine firstly through a prefilter and then through an ioniser that imports charge to the passing dropelets and particles. These charged contaminants are then attracted to oppostitly charged collector plates and they are diverted from the airstream to impinge on the collector plates.
